Teaching & Training

For the past decade I have been lecturing part-time at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) in the Interaction Design department. I wrote the third-year UX Design course and more recently I have taught classes and courses on Design Thinking, Service Design, Information Architecture and design research methods. Several of the courses have involved working with students through practical design projects at third and fourth-year levels.

Over the years I have conducted extensive on-project skills development and training and from time-to-time offer corporate training.

I have guest lectured on topics relating to Information Architecture and User Experience Design at Kent State University (Ohio, USA), the University of the Witwatersrand (Johannesburg, SA), Michaelis School of the Arts, Cape Town University (Cape Town, SA), the Vega School of Brand Communications (Johannesburg, SA) and the University of Pretoria (Pretoria, SA).

Early in my career I co-wrote and taught an introductory course to the Internet (The “Content Provider 1” in 1997) at Krypto +, a research and development company in Observatory, Cape Town.
